Macro System Model Review Meeting

On September 11, 2007, the Systems Integration Office held a meeting to review the Hydrogen Macro System Model (MSM). The meeting included an overview of the model and its capabilities, details about the MSM, and pathway results. Feedback from the review meeting will ensure that the MSM is on track to become a valuable tool for the hydrogen modeling community.

The Macro System Model now links the H2A Program, HDSAM, and GREET models with physical property information from the Hydrogen Analysis Resource Center. This provides the capability to estimate the economics, primary energy source requirements, and emissions of full production and delivery pathways consistently and holistically.

The purpose of the MSM is to:

  • Perform rapid cross-cutting analysis in a single location
  • Improve consistency between models
  • Allow for consistent use of hydrogen models without requiring all users to be experts in all models
  • Support Program outputs, outcomes, and investment decisions through analyses and sensitivity runs.
