Register Now for 2006 Annual Merit Review
May 4, 2006
Each year hydrogen and fuel cell projects funded by DOE's Hydrogen Program are presented and peer reviewed during an Annual Merit Review meeting. The 2006 event will be held May 16 - 19, 2006 in Arlington, Virginia, at the Crystal Gateway Marriott.
Principal Investigators will present the status and results of approximately 250 projects. In addition to Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy projects, hydrogen production projects from the Office of Fossil Energy and the Office of Nuclear Energy will be featured. New for 2006 will be Office of Science presentations of approximately ten projects related to basic research in hydrogen and fuel cells. AGENDAS:
HOTEL: The Crystal Gateway Marriott is now accepting reservations at the conference rate of $175 per night for stays from May 13 through May 21, 2006. Reservations must be made by April 24 to be eligible for this rate. Visit the Marriott Web site for more information and to make your reservation.
Important note concerning hotels:
As many of you have already found out, hotel rooms in the Washington D.C. area during the 2006 DOE H2 Program Review are hard to find. This is due to several large competing meetings taking place the same week and the lingering consequences of hurricane Katrina (Washington is one of the primary cities hosting conventions displaced from New Orleans this year). Despite having a larger block of rooms than last year, all but a few of the rooms at the Crystal Gateway Marriott are now reserved. Through the diligent efforts of Judi Abraham, our hotel liaison, we have procured a second block of rooms at the Hyatt Arlington, a short subway ride from the Crystal Gateway Marriott where the review is being held. If you cannot get a room at the Crystal Gateway Marriott, call 800-233-1234, reference the "Hyatt Arlington" and specify the "DOE Hydrogen Program Review" to get one of our rooms at the Hyatt Arlington. These rooms will be held until April 28th (or until the rooms are spoken for) at the special rate of $225 per night. If your travel plans have changed and you will be releasing one or more days of your reservation at the Crystal Gateway Marriott, please call Judi Abraham at 703-754-0066 so that she may assign these rooms to other review attendees.
USFCC RECEPTION: The U.S. Fuel Cell Council (USFCC) has invited Annual Merit Review participants to its Annual Congressional Awards Reception on Capitol Hill. The event is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, May 16th, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in room 325 of the Russell Senate Office Building. For directions, refer to the map (PDF 93 KB). Those interested should RSVP to Marleen Greenleaf at Marleen@fuelcells.org. For more information, visit the "Annual Members Meeting" section of the USFCC Web site. Download Adobe Reader.
