Metal Hydride Center of Excellence Report: Down-selection Decisions for Hydrogen Storage Materials

April 21, 2008

The Department of Energy has released a report, Material Down-selection Decisions Made within the Department of Energy Metal Hydride Center of Excellence (PDF 568 KB). The report provides a review of the materials that have been considered to date for commercially viable hydrogen storage systems. Since the inception of the Metal Hydride Center of Excellence in FY 2005, 51 materials have been investigated in four materials projects. Of these, 27 materials have satisfied the performance metrics and show promise as viable hydrogen storage materials. They are being studied further in FY 2008 and FY 2009. Download Adobe Reader.
